Hysterothylacium is one of the most common groups of parastic nematodes in fish worldwide. It can tolerate a wide range of salinity: in the Columbia River, it is present from the estuary almost up to Bonneville Dam. These nematodes have a multi-host life cycles, involving aquatic copepods and fish.
